Who needs the library?

We strongly recommend the product to people who want to have a GUI library with a rich set of powerful components supported for a wide range of different platforms and environments (J2SE, J2ME, SWT, .NET). In a case one or several points from the list below fit you, the library is your choice:

  • You need a rich set of flexible UI components including complex components, like grid, tree grid, tree view and the like.

  • You need a GUI that has excellent performance.

  • You need a solution that is able to work in the resource-limited environments (PDA, Cell Phones, etc).

  • You need the same library with the same concept, components set, look an feels for different platforms (J2SE LwVCL, J2ME LwVCL, Java SWT, .NET LwVCL) to reduce training and porting time.

  • You create applets that should work fast, care for system resources and don’t require J2SE Java Plug-in installed on your browser.

  • You want to have a powerful GUI for your specific platforms and environments. The library can be easily adopted because of its architecture (compare .NET, J2SE and SWT versions, for example).

Can LwVCL be a part of commercial projects?

Yes, you can use the library under GPL license; in this case you don’t need to pay money. If you aren't satisfied with the GPL license, it is possible to buy the LwVCL commercial license. See the licensing and purchase pages to get more information concerning the question.

Is commercial support available?

We can provide the customer support to satisfy your specific needs. See the support page to get more information.

How can I report bugs?

We don't provide any bug report system where you can post found bugs. Use the email for that purpose. Besides, you are not required to use any predefined format for the bug report. We promise to reply as soon as it is possible (usually it takes not more than two days). The reply will contain:

  • Bug fixing approval. Firstly, we should make sure that the bug exits and agree or disagree with you.

  • How it is going to be fixed. Depending on a bug type we can develop an update or we can postpone the bug fixing for the next release of LwVCL version.

  • Date when the bug is supposed to be fixed.

How can I request a new feature?

You can send me an e-mail that describes the required feature. After that we will analyze your request and provide it in one of the following ways:

  • If the requested feature is useful for the library and we can include the request in our to-do list for the nearest version or update.

  • If the requested feature belongs to your specific needs, we can help you for free in case it doesn't take a lot time and resources.

  • If the requested feature belongs to your specific needs and the work is limited by time and needs a substantial effort, we can estimate it. The estimation describes the time and pricing regarding the work scope.

I cannot find J2ME Personal Profile (Personal Java) LwVCL version on your site though you have announced that it works perfect. Does the version exist and where can I get it?

Yes, the J2ME Personal Profile version exists. At the moment, J2SE and J2ME PP versions are the same things. J2SE LwVCL works perfect for both J2ME PP and J2SE platforms. Most likely we will divide the version into two in the future.
